The
theme for November - December 2010:
THANKSGIVING
Gratitude
unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into
a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and
creates a vision for tomorrow.
(Melody Beattie, author, 1948–)
Thanksgiving comes to us out
of the prehistoric dimness, universal to all ages and all faiths. At whatever
straws we must grasp, there is always a time for gratitude and new beginnings.
(J. Robert Moskin, author and editor)
We can only be said to be alive
in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.
(Thornton Wilder, playwright and novelist, 1897–1975)
Not what we say about
our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving.
(W.T. Purkiser, Nazarene
theologian, 1910–1992)
Deadline
for the
November
- December issue is October 10.

Gwen Gutwein
The Fort
Wayne artist says: “I have been given the unique opportunity and
obligation through my talent in painting to visually honor beauty.
A list of active verbs, such as broaden, expand, expose, enrich,
educate and enlighten might give some descriptive color to my
heartfelt drive to share diverse nuances of beauty through my
painting.” Gwen’s paintings are included in the upcoming Barns
of Indiana exhibition Oct. 15 through Nov. 30 at the Fort Wayne
Museum of Art. You can see more of Gwen’s work on her Web site,
